My inspiration
I was looking to slow down. To feel something again. To make my efforts visible, and more importantly, useful for myself, and maybe for others too. I wasn’t trying to impress anyone. I just wanted to channel my creative energy into something that could be used, something that might stay with people over time.
Ceramics had been on my mind for a long time. When the idea first came, I was living in London, working intensely on my photography, and I kept feeling this quiet pull toward it. I couldn’t really explain it, but it stayed.
What drew me in was how something so simple can hold so much variation. A small change in shape, in thickness, in balance, and suddenly the whole experience shifts. Not just visually, but physically. The way you hold it, the way it feels in your hands, even the way you drink from it.
It can change how the drink behaves in the cup or bowl. Not only how it moves or settles, but even how it tastes. My mom always says that cutting a potato in different ways completely changes its taste. I’ve started to believe the same applies here. That something as simple as a cup can shape your entire experience of what you’re drinking.
So my aim is to create objects that don’t just look good, but quietly improve the experience itself. Something you don’t necessarily notice at first, but feel over time.
